7 Questions with our New Face – from Russia
1. We'd love to know about your heritage, where is your family from and where are you living now?
My heritage comes from Kazakhstan, I am Kazakh, but my parents and I were born in Russia, in a small town on the border between Russia and Kazakhstan.
8 years ago we moved to the unique city of St. Petersburg. I adore it in spring-summer and hate it in fall-winter.
2. What is one typical food or item from your country?
It’s not exactly a traditional dish of Russia, but it is a traditional dish of my nationality - it’s called Manti. It’s like ravioli, but with a meat filling, like dumplings, and they are cooked on steam.
3. What are 3 things that make you unique? Hobbies, interests, things you've done, etc.
Maybe I am not similar, but I am a nurse by education, I worked 1.5 years in a hospital.
I am an introvert, I like to shut myself at home, play guitar, and sing, I adore my cat and cooking something sweet.
Also, with my boyfriend we make rugs sometimes.
4. You are quite the photographer! How did you get into photography?
Aww, thank you, that’s really nice to hear!
When I quit my job at the outpatient clinic, I was wondering what I should do. My boyfriend had an old heavy DSLR camera and he taught me the basics. In fact, even now I still mess up settings and shoot on instinct, as my soul dictates. I’m an amateur, but I love what I do. I’m not sure if it will be my job in the future, but for now I’m happy with it. I like to shoot modeling tests or street shoots.
5. What is your favorite place you've travelled to? What was your favorite memory in that place?
I haven’t traveled much, but I really enjoyed the mountains in Almaty. It’s so beautiful, it’s breathtaking.
6. What is your inspiration for fashion?
I’m inspired by nature, I mean textures, colors, shapes. I love brown and green in my clothes.
I’m also inspired by the cyclical nature of fashion. You can easily guess what’s going to be in fashion by looking at some old magazine.
7. What is one lesson you've learned in life that you think all people should know?
I think people should not dwell on the past, they should live in the present, enjoy the moment. Reflection is good, but everything has its measure. You should not give too much energy to what has already passed :)
