8 Questions with our New Face – from Korea

Tell us a bit about yourself. You're Australian and Korean? How has this had an influence on you?
Yes well I was born in Korea and moved to Australia when I was young, so I'm ethnically Korean but nationality wise Australian and grew up in Australia! As I have Korean parents and family, I got to learn and experience the Asian language, lifestyle, culture. I am a bilingual with English and Korean, also having grown up in Australia, I got to learn and live the Western culture too. It creates a deep understanding for both Western and asian cultures and mannerisms. This experience is what makes me reach both markets and basically anywhere in the world seamlessly and adapt to most working environments. It helps when I meet new people and in society as a whole as I have a broader experience through different cultural perspectives.
You're now living in Seoul; if someone was to visit for the first time, what is one place they absolutely must visit? What is one traditional dish they must try?
One place they absolutely must visit is the Gyeongbokgung palace, built in 1395 as the primary royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. It shows the beautiful traditional architecture of Korea and its awe striking beauty holds Korea's magical history within its walls. Also one traditional dish they must try is the most famous but a simple dish: Kimchi! Korean traditional fermented cabbage. It can be very spicy though! You have to be ready for it if you can't do spicy!
When would you say that the idea of modelling first came to you? Do you remember your first shoot?
I first wanted to become a model when I was in high school, after coming across a video of a runway for Seoul Fashion Week on social media.
The model's absolute presence on the runway captivated me and the aura was felt even through the screen! Yes my first shoot was a test shoot I did in Seoul. I researched for a list of studios and it was a bit nerve wrecking. I remember it was the middle of winter, I had to lug a bag full of 3 different sets of clothing and shoes to the studio while freezing to the bones. It was my first time getting HMU done as well which was something completely new.
What inspires your fashion and style?
Mmm I think it really depends on my mood but I really do like a sophisticated but simple look, clean minimalism. It might not sound too exciting but to name a few among many: Old Money look or wearing suits too. Giving clean crisp look.
What would you consider to be the most exciting parts of your life? What gives you the most joy?
Life peaks when you truly feel happy or when Cristiano Ronaldo scores a goal and wins a trophy! Siuuuuu!
Do you have a particular motto or quote you live your life by?
Never give up! It is so simple yet so very important. Having 1% chance is better than 0%. Even if you are moving 1mm per day towards your goal, it is better than not moving at all. Giving up deletes absolutely any chance you had and becomes impossible. If even you yourself don't believe in yourself, who else will?
If you were to write a novel or direct a movie, what would you want it be about?
If I had to write a book or direct a movie, it would be about me! An autobiography or a documentary about me. I feel like I like being the centre of attention, all eyes on me, and I want to show people who I am. I think it feels natural for me to go in the direction of it being me!
What goals do you have for yourself in the next 5 years? Where do you see yourself?
Goals I have for myself in the next 5 years are very systematically set in stone I think. One of the clearest of them being to walk for all 4 of the major Fashion Weeks: Milano, Paris, New York and London. In 5 years, being one of the top male models in the world!
